TIPS FOR VISITING STILLWATER NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE
- Dress for the weather. Temperatures can range from over 100 degrees
in the summer to below zero in winter.
- Carry plenty of drinking water--a gallon per person per day is recommended.
- Carry a first aid kit.
- Safety check your car before venturing into remote areas of the refuge.
- Use existing roads.
- Fishing and hunting are permitted in accordance with state regulations
and seasons.
- Camping up to eight days is allowed. Most campers use the Likes Lake
area. No facilities or potable water are available.
- Pets are allowed on leash or under control.
- Boats are allowed with motors up to 10 hp in the Stillwater marsh
area; boats that do not produce a wake are allowed in the Indian Lakes
area.
- Fires are allowed as long as they are contained. Firewood cutting
is prohibited.
- Artifacts, including arrowheads, are protected under Federal law.
Do not remove them.
