MAINE ST. WALKING TOUR
The renovation of Maine Street has created a renewed
interest in downtown Fallon as a social destination and shopping
district. Maine Street is also a window into Fallon's past. Now,
you can stroll along Maine St. with a historic walking tour map designed
by the staff at the Churchill County Museum and Archives.
The map is included in a detailed brochure filled with
pictures and information about some of Fallon's oldest buildings
and founding families that built them. The tour is designed to guide
you along the street, one side at a time.
There are over forty-two locations described in the
brochure from 1050 S. Maine St. to 346 N. Maine St. There are 25
locations within an easy stroll in downtown between Williams Ave.
and Stillwater.
Divided into "West side" and "East side" attractions,
the Maine St. historic walking tour offers a complete look into the
development of commerce, government, entertainment and more as Fallon
grew at the turn of the century from a dusty crossroads between St.
Clair and Stillwater to the "Oasis of Nevada."
Brochures can be picked up at the museum at 1050 S. Maine St., the Fallon Convention & Visitors Center, 100 Campus Way, the Greater Fallon Area Chamber of Commerce, 65 S. Maine St., or City Hall, 55 W. Williams Ave. You can also visit the museum's website for more information: www.ccmuseum.org.
