HIDDEN CAVE TOURS
(one mile north of Grimes Point)
Hidden Cave can only be explored in guided tours with the
BLM. This is done to protect the cave and the significant clues it provides
to the past.
What: Tours of Hidden Cave, an important archaeological
dig site that is still being excavated today and with a 21,000 year stratigraphy
exposed, are given by the Bureau of Land Management.
When: The second and fourth Saturday of every month.
Where: Tours start at the Churchill County Museum,
1050 S. Maine St., (775) 423-3677, where you register at 9:30 a.m.
How: Caravan in your own vehicle out to the cave
at 10 a.m.
Admission: FREE!
The cave is at the end of a half-mile walk up a narrow,
dirt trail. The tour is not suitable for wheelchairs, crutches or undisciplined
children.
